Making Do

Hello Everyone:

Good day today. I put up a post on gentrification and displacement. The article presented evidence to suggest that gentrification doesn't have to cause displacement of long-time residents. It sounds counterintuitive but you need to read it and let it simmer for a bit. The only downside today was the noise level in my work space. It's actually a multi-purpose room but most of the time it's used for quiet work and study. Lately it's been so hot that people have coming inside to escape the heat. It's mostly elderly people, some parents with small children and infants. Today it was intolerable because there were some school kids loudly working with a tutor and some people having a meeting, chattering away at full volume. Even with the EarPods and the music I could still hear them. If it isn't that, it's stupid aerobics class that plays this cheesy top 40 nonsense at full blast. I really wish PLB management would finally set a separate room just for work. I mean a real work center for people like me that want to just work in peace. There should be a separate meeting space. It should be set up for collaborative work. They'll never do it, makes too much sense and would be too convenient. I keep saying we should get internet service for the house. I get that it's an extra expense but, in my opinion, worth it. Until the stars align in my favor, I do what I can.
