People And Their Stuff

Hello Everyone:

A good day today in the blogosphere. I posted an article on how lack of access to reliable transportation can be a barrier to receiving good health care. Interesting article. I mentioned it to mom and she started in on how she doesn't have transportation (ie a car) but I quickly reminded her that access to reliable transportation means also having a bus stop close by (we do, it's just about at doorstep) and city provided ride programs. That shut down the complaints quickly. In other news, the Brit BF reminded me that his mother's funeral is this week. I totally forgot about it and felt like such a dork. I'm so used to the Jewish funerary procedure, where the deceased is buried almost immediately in order to let the grieving process begin. It's going to be hard for him to bury his last surviving parent. I wish I could be with him this week. I just wish he wouldn't be so English about-stiff upper lip stuff.  However, he is who he is and he does have a good point about not following what society considers appropriate behavior in this case. He's not one to get all emotional but I told recently that it was okay to get emotional, after all, it is his mother. Speaking of emotional, one of the ladies that works in the PLB Business Center had a meltdown today. Fortunately, she had the good sense to do it in a storeroom, away from the denizens of the place. She was feeling over worked and unappreciated, a common feeling especially for those who deal with customer service all day. I totally empathize with her about having to put up with people's bratty behavior and being treated like a serving girl. You just need to be reminded that you're work is appreciated. I think sometimes I should've been a therapist. Naw, I'd probably snap the clients' heads off and hand it back to them.
