Crazy World

Hello Everyone:

Good news, the ear is better. I was able to go through the day without dumping anything into to loosen the wax and blood; nor was there any pain. In less gross news, I took another step to professional scribe-dom by applying for a job at a local magazine. I pitched myself nicely, making an effort to convey enthusiasm and confidence. It was an easy application and I hope it pans out. Now, I'm hot and tired.  It is the first day of summer and to celebrate the occasion, Los Angeles is experiencing a heat wave. Yay, Happy Summer.  I hope we don't have another endlessly hot summer. At least I can try to cool myself with thoughts of the UK. I'm sure it gets warm there but not quite like Palm Springs was today: 122 degrees. Really, a brand new record. Thank you global warming. I posted a nice piece today on violence against LGBT people. What was shocking about the article I used was the fact that sexual orientation-based hate crimes are more common than people think. Part of the reason is the ingrained attitudes on homosexuality. Even in our so-called Enlightened Age, there are still a lot of people who think that being gay is immoral. Whether or not there are any ties to terrorism is debatable. Nevertheless, there's no reason on the planet to shoot up any place. It's cool if you don't approve of two guys/girls kissing but express yourself in a Letter to the Editor, not with a semi-automatic weapon. Crazy world isn't it?
