First Day
Hello Everyone:
I kind of started my job today. The day, such that it was, was really spent setting up the classroom and meeting the teacher I'm going to be working with as well as few other people. Everyone seems nice. I think I might like it there. It's a not too religious school near my house. Close enough that I can walk to and from work. That's a good thing because parking around the school can be a real nightmare. In fact while I was there, someone made an announcement reminding people to move their cars before the got a ticket. I still have a few more flaming hoops to jump through before I can get in front of the class but they're more like easily overcome minor obstacles. The main thing now is to get a few more hours out of them. The campus is rather nice, not to big but a real maze. There's another school on the next corner and the middle school I went to is nearby. Apparently I'm not the only very recent hire. I was talking with the school business manager and she showed me the stack of folders on her desk from new hires as recent as today. I guess the school needed a lot of people but they could've put the word out a lot sooner, like in July. That would've given me enough time to get all the onboarding things done and start on time, including shop for some new clothes. Yes, this new job will require a some appropriate clothes. Fotunately I have a few things in my closet that I can wear and as I start to make some money, I can invest it in some good quality clothes. I thought well maybe I'll just go to the nearest fast fashion place or discount retailer and by a bunch of things. However walking home today I thought to myself why waste the money on cheap clothes? There somethings that aren't worth spending money on like trendy items. Other things, like good shoes, are worth the extra dollars especially if you're on your feet a lot. So I'll wait and save my money. Anyway, the time between now and when I actually start will give me a chance to rearrange my schedule a little.
