A Good Fit
Hello Everyone:
Today was all about the bureaucracy. First there was getting through the unemployment benefits form. Most the time was taken up with getting my identification verified. I had to upload a photograph of my primary and secondary identification, then wait to take a video call with a someone could visually confirm my identity. The actual confirmation took about ten minutes but just waiting to connect took a while. Fortunately I have a couple of books next to me to kill the time. Once the process was over, it was on to the actual application. I managed to get through most of it but got a little stumped on some the questions and saved the document until the next time. I sent an email to the BIL to see if he could help me out. The second piece to bureaucracy I dealt with is a school district internship application. This is a program I stumbled onto but after reading about it, I definitely think this is the thing for me. The inspiration for it was an application for a literacy tutor to the school district. That gave me an ear worm that wouldn't leave me alone. I finally decided to something about it by applying to the program. The problem here is logging onto the application. Apparently, the email address I entered doesn't match one on file. Strange because I only use one address so it shouldn't be a problem, yet it is. I ended up emailing someone in Human Resources to see if the person could help me out. I'm thinking that it may come down to sending me a .pdf that I can fill out, sign, and send it back with all the required supporting documents. The program is in two parts: The first part is in class work (i.e. lectures) and the second part is in the field working with a mentor teacher. The good news is that it's a paid program and, once I become a fully licensed and credentialed teacher, I can work anywhere. I say that's a win. I'll get past these minor techinical issues and achieve my goal of becoming a licensed and credentialed teacher in my field. I'm done pursuing career paths that are not quite a good fit. Teaching and writing about preservation, architecture, and urban design are a great fit. It's what I know best. Okay, time to make dinner
