Work Worm
Hello Everyone:
A very windy start to the week. Well, it is less than a week to the official start of winter. I decided to get to down about the slowness of the job search. There are things I can do and there are things I have no control over. I can be a little more proactive about pursuing leads. I can't control prospective employers' response. So I move forward. That's only direction I can head, better than moving backwards. I still can't get that public school teaching thought out of my head. The idea of teaching a group of high school students is appealing but I have no clue, other than art history, what else I could teach. Arts programs are not high on the list of priorities unless it's a specialized public school. I could see myself in that situation, a publicly funded private school. The first hurdle I would need to clear is taking the state credential exam. I could do that. However, I'm equally intrigued about studying project managment. If I plan to continue with my goal to pursue a job in city planning and preservation, a certificate in project management would be very helpful. More importantly, I need something right now and right now I'm not finding anything that peaks my interest. I remain optimistic that I will find something. Right now, it just seems like dignified work is out of reach. By dignified I mean something that doesn't involved daily humilation at the hands of customers and co-workers. Been there, done that, hated it. I could see myself working in a nice office somewhere with people who, at the very least, are serious about their work, have a good sense of humour, and respect each other. Not that tall an order. Anyway, it's time for dinner.
