Enough With The Restrictions

Hello Everyone: The evening hush is settling in as people scurry home from their day to avoid getting stopped for COVID curfew violations. I've been able to tell what it is based on the activity outside my window. I know it's 10:00pm, when curfew starts because everything goes silent. I know it's 5:00 am, when it ends, because I can hear the cars outside my window. If you ask me, I've really had enough of people thinking they can do whatever they want in the name of individual liberty and damn the consequences. To me it's a simple equation, you want to end all the restrictions and go back to something that looks normalcy, just follow the Centers for Disease Control guidelines. It's not that impossible to wear a mask, maintain a wide enough radius around yourself, wash your hands, and don't gather in large groups. How hard can it be? Yes, it's no fun not being able to come and go as you please or go to parties but isolating yourself is better? All the people who whine about the restrictions don't seem to get that their right disregard the CDC guidelines has a negative impact on their communities but, hey, whatever. The right of someone to walk around breathing all over everyone and go to a social gathering trumps public health and welfare. I guess some people have to learn the hard way. Of course I won't say anything to anyone because you never know how someone will react to being told to wear a mask. The last thing I want is to end up a viral video and an unflattering hashtag. Some days, the mobile phone can be such a burden. What's also a burden is people who peddle disinformation. I'll give an example, last week the lady who comes by every week for a visit texted me to say she's in quarantine because her husband came down with the virus. After I finished our thread, I was kind of able to guess how he got it. They have a daughter who lives in a religious community in Brooklyn where media literacy is non-existant and distrust of municipal and state officials. There is this loud mouth buffoon who takes advantage of the situation by spewing out dangerous garbage about the pandemic. My guess is the daughter and her family thought it was safe enough to travel to visit mum and dad, without realizing that they might be carrying the virus based on this idiot's rants. So irresponsible. Then everyone wonders why we can't go back to normal.
