What A Waste
Hello Everyone:
Today was one of those semi-maddening days where the slightest thing sets me off. My allergies have been acting up leaving me very irritable and a little depleted. This led me to go all Karen on a community organization. Here's what happened: Prior to her death, mum arranged to have some food delivered to the house. It wasn't like we really needed it because we have plenty of food, she just didn't like any of it. Fine. The meals she arranged to get were these airline-type meals that looked less than appetizing to me but if that's what she wanted, fine. Did she eat any of it or even make an attempt to eat it? Absolutely not. She just hoarded it, saying she'll get around to it, which never happened. Fortunately, I was able to give away most of the meals she hoarded and called to cancel the service last week, or so I thought. This morning, when I came back from my run, I found three bags of food and groceries waiting by the door. I brought the food in and immediately got on the phone with the organization, demanding that someone come today and pick them up. I explained that I cancelled the service last week and I have no use for it or anyone to give it to. The food was just taking up space in the refrigerator, going to waste. The person I finally spoke to gave me some rubbishy reason why the delivery continued but I wasn't interested. I just wanted them gone. Of course no one's come by to pick up the food and now I think I'm stuck with food I won't eat because it's all beef, fish, poultry and I'm a vegetarian. The whole thing annoyed me all day. Perhaps if my allergies hadn't flared up, I wouldn't so bothered by it but they did and I am. I'll call them again tomorrow and see if someone can pick them up. I would hate to toss all that food away.
