Hello Everyone:
It has been an exciting few days. My niece got engaged to someone she met in Israel. It was quite a surprise since I didn't think she wanted to meet anyone. The perspective groom is four of eight siblings who grew up only a few blocks away from my niece. He studying at a well known yeshiva in Jerusalem. I saw a picture of the groom-to-be and he looks about twelve not his actual age, 23 years old. He wants to learn at his yeshiva and eventually teach. Nice but in his field the pay is practically not much to live on, let alone help support a family. My niece eventually wants to go into graphic design but she's taking courses through an online program and in all likelihood, will end up with a worthless degree. I know I am throwing major shade but they are both so inexperienced that I don't think they know which is end is up. He is, like, the first person she went out with and she's only 19 years old. She doesn't even know what she wants from a relationship or what qualities to look for in a life partner. Of course, even at 29 or 39 you can't possibly know either but at least you've been involved in a serious relationship or two know what you're looking for. I want her to be happy, we all do. Divorce is messy. Mom already met his family and was not impressed. Basically, she came away with the impression that they're going to try to freeload off my sister and BIL. Great. I'll meet everyone tomorrow evening at the engagement party. Should be fun.
