Hello Everyone:
The dust has settled on the whole sudden wedding announcement thing. Now comes the fun part, at least for me, putting together an outfit. Thank goodness for Pinterest. The consensus seems to be that the prospective groom is totally clueless. This evening mom told me that the groom's family wants to schedule the wedding a week after Passover. I get that no one wants a long engagement but a wedding this soon? Personally speaking, I think a long engagement would be a good thing. It would give the couple a better chance to really get to know each other and decide if they're doing the right thing. Frankly, I think if they waited until early summer, they might have a better sense of themselves or, at least, the beginnings of a better sense of self. It's not that I want them to break up, it's just I want my niece to be happy and have a good understanding of what she's about to do. Time is not a guarantee of anything, I just want her to make sure she feels sure about her decision. She may decide that getting married is the right thing for her or she might decide to break it off. Naw, she won't break it off because there's a stigma attached to broken engagements in her circle. So ridiculous. My niece is a pushover, like her mom, that she'll do as she told. Which is a shame because I always hoped she'd declare her independence. Instead, she kisses away all her potential at that so-beneath-her high school. Anyway, I've had my say for now.
