Hello Everyone:
Another Sunday, another Skype chat with my Brit BF. Right now, it's the closest thing we have to a regular date. One day we'll have a real date. Most of the conversation was centered around this big boxing match that took place last night. I'm not a boxing fan, although if I do watch it, it's during the Olympics. Anyway, he was mostly carrying about the spectle of it all and how the match was more about the show than the actual boxing. In fact, the winner got booed. Truthfully, I find the show part of professional sports really too much. A little pre-game show is fine but a lot is insane. Anyway, it's usually a prelude to a disappointing game. From what I heard, this boxing match did not live up to the hype. You know it's bad when the person singing the national anthem gets panned.
In other news, the movie binge watching continues. Last night it was the movie 'Wild' and right now I'm watching 'Big Eyes.' It's the story of painter Margaret Keane. I hadn't heard of her until recently. So far, it's an interesting study in how art is marketed. Talk about hype. Hype versus honesty. Especially when there's profit involved-ill gotten profit. The thing is, Margaret Keane's husband took the credit for the work she painted. My honest impression of Big Eyes is its really not my preference in art but then again, I don't know much about the artist. I do like the art direction. The acting is okay. Of course, now I'm going to google Margaret Keane and check her work out.
