Hello Everyone:
Yesterday's lunch at sis's turned out okay. As usual, the food was mediocre and the company was equally average. The teenage nephew behaved, well, like a teenage boy which prompted me to suggest enlistment in the United States Marine Corps or time at a traditional English boarding school. The rest of the day into evening passed quietly. My Sunday is going peacefully as well. Sis's in-laws are supposed to come for dinner tomorrow and I'm holding out hope they don't come. It's just too much effort and expense to entertain a pair of self-important people and sis's slacker family. They don't offer to help clean up after the meal. I don't know why mom felt so obligated to invite them over. It's not like this is the first time they're visiting Los Angeles. They come every year for Passover and mom have never had them over. Actually, the last time they came over for dinner was five years ago. I remember that day perfectly, it was April 1, 2010. I just finished cleaning up the debris pile and went to check email and I saw something in my inbox from USC with an attachment. When I opened it, it was my acceptance letter and needless to say I was very happy because I got into my first choice school. So maybe the in-laws coming over may not be such a bad thing. On the one hand you can say once every five years isn't so bad but on the other hand, this go-around is more of a hardship. Thus the wish that they blow off dinner tomorrow. It's only for a few hours but I'd rather do other things then pretend to tolerate these people.
