(Re) Election Day

Hello Everyone:

Today is (re) election in the good old U.S.  Yours truly has already cast her vote in this midterm election.  In California, it's a mostly going through the motions affair.  The current governor is going to be re-elected simply because his challenger hasn't said anything substantial and is so far behind, that he has to play catch up before he can catch up.  This lack of drama is a good thing because it means not being bombarded with all sorts of screaming adverts insisting that one side or the other is the better choice.  Voting in California is more of a laid back thing, unless it's the presidential elections then it's more like a party.  Anway, the rest of the day looks pretty mellow.  I just have to be back at chez moi a little early to accept a grocery delivery for mom.  Speaking of which, I think she finally gave up on planning anything for my birthday.  I still think she might make one more effort and sis may make an attempt at something but my position is firm.  I would rather pass the day quietly than make some big show of gratitude to make someone's ego feel better.  If anyone's ego should be stroked, it's mine.  The Brit BF does a nice job of doing that.  Right now there are two guys sitting nearby discussing the ballot propositions.  One of them is voting for the first time, cool.  The ballot propositions are always a bit tricky because often, no means yes and yes means no.  Rarely are the straight forward.  The classic example was the proposition a few years ago to outlaw same sex marriage in this state.  I voted against and caught hell at home for it.  This proposition was worded in such a way that, indeed,  no meant yes and yes meant no.  You see the problem.  So I've done my civic duty and tomorrow the world will continue to rotate merrily on it's axis.
