Bridging the Divide

Hello Everyone:

It's a beastly hot Sunday and let up in sight.  Did I ever mention that I hate hot weather in any form?  I wish I were someplace cooler.

I spoke with the British BF on Friday and loved hearing about empire building activities. He tends to be long winded at times but it's not a deal breaker.  I decided to to start taking baby steps to bridge the cultural divide between us.  I sent him a link to a Jewish Museum in Manchester to he can learn something about a culture he knows little about.  Culturally, we both come from family-centric people, it's just the religion that separates us.  This has deal breaker written all over it.  My approach is to educate not exclude.  I could never understand why some Jewish people are wary of outsiders.  Actually, let me change that, I can understand why, historically, Jewish people have been wary of outsiders.  However, living in isolation from the world at-large is something I can't do.  I would rather educate and inform than push a person away.  I believe that it helps bridge the divides that separate people.  I'm not that as to think it's the solution for ending racism and misgyony but it's a step in he right direction.  I can only point him in the direction I want him to go toward and hope for the best.  I would like to know more about his world; mostly so I can understand him a little better.  I think that because we're naturally curious people that we will have a slightly easier time learning about our respective cultures and meet in the middle.  Part of my plan is to, hopefully, spend a little more time with either here or in Manchester.  For now, all is good.
