Weekend update time. It is he weekend before the big Jewish holidays and all is calm. Although, one interesting development to report. It seems that one of Sis's holiday guests is a newly divorced dad. I met him a few years ago, when he was still married. I remembered his wife being a bit of an ignorant harridan and wondering "what is a nice smart guy like him doing with her?" I've only had that opinion about one other married man. Anyway, mom suggested to sis that she invite him over since he'll have the children. The children aren't exactly angels. I did catch a whiff of set -up. Holidays are always good for that sort of silliness. At least there will be liquor so everyone will be more tolerable. In other news, I have a fresh cut, fresh color, and a new pair of reading glasses to start my week. I'm happy. I need to send by Brit BF new pictures. Getting back to the pending holiday dinner, I'll just be my usual Dorothy Parker-seque self and deal. I still remember one classic moment a few years ago that left sis and BIL quivering in their shoes. I had just seen the documentary Inside Job, which is about he home mortgage industry explosion. I had the fortunate of being seated next to a mortgage industry attorney and across the table from a realtor. We started talking about home mortgages and how adjustable rate mortgages aren't such a great idea. As it turns out sis and BIL have an ARM and poor sis feebly asked if they were past the adjustment period. BILL didn't look so confident. Nothing like a little verbal sniper fire to perk things up. That and liquor.
