Mom met the new guy yesterday and lived to tell. can you believe it? After all the ignorant comments and hostility, she actually was polite to him. Of course mom blew it off as an acing job. Naturally. new guy liked her, said she was sweet and saw where I get my sense of humor from. Maybe there's hope? A small sliver. Anyway, it isn't like it's serious, yet. Nobody has put a ring on my finger so for now, all is good. The bf texted me today with an update on his life. I don't know why I still call him the bf since he's turned out to be not much of a bf. Yes we have great sex and I still want to have sex with the new guy. Maybe I should just ditch both of them and find a nice religious Jewish guy. That'll happen about the same time as my joining a convent. Anyway, while mom and the new guy were talking I could see the all the circuits in mom's head on overload. "I can't believe my baby brought HIM home?! Why G-d Why?" I suppose the reverse would be true if I met new guy's family. It's funny though, mom knows I have friends from different backgrounds and she's always saying I should invite them over. Yet, she's the one saying "they may not be comfortable visiting." Sorry, it be both ways. She's always telling me to find my people and when I do, it's not the people she prefers. Don't get the idea that I still need mommy's approval for friends it's just that I live here too and I have the right to bring over whoever I please. No, mom doesn't have to entertain them but she does have to be polite and accept the fact that friendships and relationships means more to me than just having identical backgrounds. I'm more interested in how a person is with me. Certain things are unchangable. Other things can be tweaked. For me, it's not just about similar ethnicity and race, it's about common interests. Also it's about the type person he or she is. Good and bad people come in every shape and form. Both the new guy and the bf are definitely good people. I love them both.
