Love the Arts

Hello Everyone:

At last, the weather has returned to something that resembles normal.   Thank goodness.  Now if only my life would do the same.  There was a good prospect in historic preservation over the weekend.  I can even tolerate the fact it's in Orange County-not exactly Los Angeles, too suburban for my taste.  I can't wait to see what prospect Americans for the Arts generates today.  I mean that because I like the idea of working in a gallery or museum.  Always have, thanks to my arts education.   It's a good work environment for me.  It's a wonderful feeling to be at a point where you know what works for you and what doesn't.  This way I can be more focused on what matters to me.  I love Americans for the Arts because the have a broad spectrum of jobs within all the performing and visual arts.  I don't really think that the performing arts is really my forte unless you count dancing around the living room, shining in the shower, or the ability to self-generate drama as marketable job skills.  I love the idea of working in the visual arts, it gives me a raison d'être.   Architecture, urban history, the visual arts are all daily sources of sustenance for me.  I cannot imagine a life without them.  Most of the people in my life don't understand this but all of the above give meaning to life.  Everybody has something that they are passionate about.  Some of us are really fortunate enough to make it a life's work.  Writing and working  with Architecture, urban history, the visual arts is something I can easily see making a life's work.  In some way, I'm already doing it through my historic preservation blog.  At the very least, my skills aren't getting rusty and I'm acquiring social media skills.  Yes, I need to accentuate more of the positive points.  A job in a historic preservation/design firm or in the arts is just perfect for me.
