Once again order has been restored to my universe. The exterminators are gone and the apartment is back to normal. The real issue of lacks maintenance is still there but I have a feeling that nothing substantive is going to get done unless enough people complain and management takes action. In the meantime life moves on. The partial federal government shutdown grinds on. News reports say that there is a deal in the offing but I'll believe it when becomes a fact. The BIL is still furloughed from his job and I can't still help but revel in the irony of his situation. It's awful, yes but I never put my faith in people, especially politicians. They're among the worst type of people. Politicians are just nothing more than pandering, self-serving liars. Very few really work in for the public good. The shutdown is perfect proof. Forty members of Congress are essentially holding the nation hostage because they want to eliminate access to affordable healthcare. Ridiculous. I guess these spoiled brats think that sending people into bankruptcy because of a medical emergency is preferable to making affordable coverage available. It's embarrassing for a country like the United States not have some sort of national healthcare program. Why is this the case? Simply put, there those in power who think it's government over reach, unnecessary, some evil socialist plot, et cetera. Please. The Canadians have a national healthcare service. Yes, they pay for it in higher taxes but it seems like a minor trade off for access to affordable healthcare. Hopefully soon, this issue will go away and those in power will just have to accept the fact that the Affordable Healthcare Act (Obamacare) is the law.
