Just Venting

Hello Everyone:

It's a lovely early autumn day here in Los Angeles.  Typical autumn weather, warm during the day and cold at night.  C'est normal.  I'd like to tell you about an organization that recently came to my attention, Road Recovery (http://www.roadrecovery.org).  Road Recovery is an organization dedication to helping young people overcome addictions and adversities in their lives.  I first heard about Road Recovery on a Facebook post earlier this year and again over the weekend.  Please check out the website and share it on as many social media sites as you can.  Spread the word.

The weekend has been relatively quiet.  Yesterday, mom and I finished cleaning out the kitchen, once again, in advance of the exterminators.  This really pisses me off to no end.  I'm angry at my neighbors and their sloven behavior; Park La Brea Management for their lax attitude.  PLB management has the typical attitude of every apartment management, "as long as you pay the rent, we don't care what you do."  This is coupled with the nonchalant approach of security and maintenance who care more about checking their text messages and hanging out then actually doing their jobs.  Alright, I'm being a little unfair to the dedicated people that actually do work.  It just makes me furious that it seem like every month, we have to go through this ordeal because, proper sanitation and preventive maintenance seems to be beyond the scope of some people.  What does PLB management think, if they lay down new carpeting in the corridors and put a fresh coat of paint everything will be just fine?  No.  These are cosmetic changes what is really needed is substantive changes such as more responsive and regular maintenance.  More importantly, someone, somehow, needs to get the word out to everyone about what constitutes proper sanitation, meaning throw trash in the cans or chutes and clean up after your pet.  Two things annoyed me to no end over the weekend.  First, some idiot in my building throw the remains of his/her dinner on the grass area and second, two brats left their empty drink containers on a grass play area.  This is just symptomatic of an ongoing problem.  When I moved here almost ten years ago, PLB was a really nice place to live.  It was clean and very quiet.  For the most part, it still is but management has been so desperate for tenants and making the site aesthetically pleasing, that they've let go of a lot basic things that are more necessary than amenities like in-unit washer/dryers.  This has to be the last time the exterminators come.
