Things Went Better Than Expected
Hello Everyone:
Not long back from family get together and it went well. I came prepared to "do battle" but, surprisingly, the meal was short, pleasant, and to the point. Sis posted some COVID re-entry table manners rules on the refrigerator that helped set the tone. Very quickly, we all found loopholes and pointed out the lack of penalities for bad behavior. I want to say that some of the pleasantness had something to do with the fact that the men folk were sort of tired from staying all night. Mostly, my Number 2 nephew was tired and just sat inertly at the table, nibbling on some food. After the meal was over, I made a beeline out of there. I really wanted to get to work. I think the job has finally grown on me and the paycheck is nice. At least at work, I can get something done instead of sitting around, listening to Number 2 nephew make animal noises or Number 1 nephew ramble on about something or another. Anyway, I'm on inbound call duty right now and it's quiet. This'll be the case for a while. I'm not complaining because it gives me a chance to catch up on some personal stuff like apply for a great opportunity that landed on my Insta feed. It's a real opportunity at a local prestigious public university. There are a few positions open including research associate. I can do that. I have the writing and research skills to do the job. The school is the arch-crosstown rival of the graduate school I went to. I could deal with that because the prestigious public university is where I really wanted to go after high school. Funny how things work out. It sounds like a great opportunity for me and something I do want to pursue. I have until the end of the month to submit all the required application material, not that I'm going to wait that long. I love looking for stable employment now because I have the contact tracer job that affords me a steady paycheck and some stability. Anyway, it's almost meal time.
