Hello Everyone:
I am into another long weekend. I know, it seems like it’s been one long weekend since the pandemic started. To make matters worse, it’s really hot and dry. We’re talking desert like weather. Well, it still is summer for another few weeks and Los Angeles used to be part desert. I guess the only thing left is torrential rain. That may be on the horizon. Can’t do anything about the weather except deal with it. It’ll pass. Anyway, I had a nice time at Saturday lunch. The BIL was in better spirits and his hair is growing back. Both nephews started class and the oldest seems happy at school. The youngest nephew started high school and already wants to go to another school. His school is a pretty strict religious all boys school where the focus is solely on the boys’ studies. No clubs, sports (except for two basketball courts), no extracurricular activities of any sort. The schedule is pretty grueling—sunrise to past sunset. They do have breaks during the day for food but other than that, it’s all study. The way the youngest nephew described it, it sounded like a Dickensian workhouse. The facilities are actually nice and my youngest nephew is a drama king. He’ll eventually get used to it. Honestly, I knew it wasn’t the school for him. Too strict. His temperament is geared towards a more relaxed setting where he can do more independent work. I have no idea why my sister and BIL sent him there but I’m not going to say anything. It’s done and they’ve got the tuition bill to prove it. As for me, I decided to put the word out that I’m looking for work in a local school. Most of the schools in my neighborhood are religious schools and I can certainly work in their offices or in a classroom. If I go that route, the big thing would be adjusting to my wardrobe to a more modest dress code. That’s a minor issue as far as I’m concerned. At least I would have some steady income.
