A Very Good Day
Hello Everyone:
Today was a very good day. During my morning park work out, I got a text from my recruiter, regarding the school district, asking me if I was available to talk. I figured it was for one of two reasons: To find out if I'm available to come back to work or to tell me there were enough people and don't need anymore. It was the former, was I available to come back to work. Of course I answered yes since nothing was certain with the insurance company. I told her that whatever frustration I expressed about the job were resolved (which they were),I liked the people I worked with, and ready to go on Monday. Made my day. That and getting my unemployment money. I'll use that for as long as I can for groceries, a couple of bills, and laundry. The next time I have to check in with the unemployment office, I'll let them know I went back to work. Speaking of money, I'll be working the same hours and making the same money. I'm just waiting for all the paperwork I need to do and the dreaded laptop. Once I fill out all the paperwork, then I'll let the unemployment office know I went back to work. One thing I'm not looking forward is the eight hour Zoom call. I didn't miss that. I did miss the people. I plan on handling the contact trace job a little differently this time. For one,I seriously plan on getting up with the alarm. I had to do that last week and I was grateful that I had the extra time to do stuff. For another, I'll try not to stress out too much over it. It's a job I know how to do. I already let the job coach know about the return to work. I still plan on looking for full time stable work but I have some breathing room. My spidey sense tells me that the contact tracing job will go in cycles: Ramp up in August and remain busy until the end of September, then ease off until November when cold and flu season starts and more people go indoors. Colds and flu come from the same virus strain as COVID and share symptoms. I also think we'll be at it through the early part of next or until enough people get vaccinated so the new infection rates go down and stay down. Hopefully by then I'll be on to bigger and better things.
