Quieter Day.

Hello Everyone:

Today was a quieter day.  Mum was kind of out of it after, which is to be expected considering she spent all of yesterday in emergency departments.  Her appetite perked up a little, also good.  Right now, the chatty carer is running her mouth, again about something or another.  I so hate when she goes on her rants.  Her voice grates on my nerves.  Eavesdropping a bit, she's ranting about which version of mum passing out is the accurate one.  Frankly I don't care because I know what I experienced.  The chatty carer means well but she can be so over bearing at times.  She's going on a mini-vacation later this week so we'll have a little break from her.  She's good at her job but sometimes I wish she would just keep her mouth closed and work.  I chatted with the Brit BF over the weekend and he sounded very confident about the licensing representative from Portugal.  He told me that representative sounded serious about entering into a licensing deal with him.  What that means for me, I have no idea and I'm not staking my claim.  I do know that he's hinted about an engagement ring.  Would I say yes?  Yes I would.  It's a huge step for me with some personal consequences.  Mum isn't crazy about him because he's Afro-English and not Jewish.  He's what I call Jewish-friendly.  Also we're a biracial couple and in this political-social climate, that can be fraught.  However, at the end of the day I'm happiest with him.  I've dated "appropriate" men and I just wasn't happy with them.  They're either little boys who want their mommies, old men who want nurse maids, or lifelong bachelors who want escorts without paying for it.  It sounds like I'm generalizing the men I've been involved with but that's been my experience and none of them worthy of me.  I refuse to settle for just whoever with male genitalia or stay single.  What I want from him is someone I look forward to waking up with in the morning and going to bed with at night.  Someone I can talk to and with about whatever is on my mind.  Someone who makes me laugh.  The rest is manageable.
