The Suffering Martyr
Hello Everyone:
I kind of got a late start to the morning but managed to get everything I needed to do done. That's always a good thing. I think I'm going to like having my mornings somewhat free to take care of my personal things. Today it was uploading a new resume to a job website and contacting a job mentor. One thing that did irritate me was mum's continued ambivalence to leave the house with her medical equipment. She has a cane and an oxygen concentrator to help her breath. It's a portable device that she can wear on her shoulder wherever she goes. She used it once and gave up, claiming it was too unmanageable. When mum mentioned it to the doctor last week, he told once isn't enough, she has use it more frequently. The problem is mum looks for all sorts of excuses not to leave the house, even though she's been repeatedly told to get out more because it's good for her. I've been encouraging to get out more but I think she likes to play the suffering martyr. It's always the same excuse, I don't feel well or I can't manage with everything. My feeling is that she needs to get over herself and learn to manage. Is she afraid that someone is going to point to her and make some sort of snarky comment? If so, then that's on them. She needs her medical devices plain and simple. I can understand the unwieldiness of it but at some point mum needs to learn how to get along with it and stop making excuses. I have no time for it. Anyway, today's episode of suffering martyr turned out to be nothing. She didn't realize her ride (the eldest nephew) had a class and needed to leave at a particular time. Oh well chi happens.
