Hello Everyone:
Well, now that I've had a few days to process the past week, I can honestly say I'm ready to move on. There's no point in assigning blame, pointing fingers, name calling, or any other petulant behavior. What's done, is done. The United States is getting a president who is the exact opposite of all the good things this country is known for. I understand the anger from those who feel left behind, dismissed by those in power and the more affluent. There anger is real. They voted for the person they felt will transform their lives for the better. That worries me because, the POTUS-elect made a lot of promises that seemed too good to be true. You know the old saying, "if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is." The other thing is POTUS-elect is quickly going to realize that he can't do anything and everything he wants, which may not bode well for the country. It could result in chaos at the top and more gridlock in Congress. My only concern, albeit selfish, is healthcare. I've been reading that repealing Obamacare is not as easy as the POTUS-elect and his sycophants think it is, given that the Republicans don't have an outright majority. Whatever they attempt to do will be met by resistance and/or may take time to enact. There are signs that he may want to keep some elements of it. I also read that the one of the best things to do is to sign up for healthcare now because whatever happens when Congress goes back to work after The Inauguration, won't have an affect on new policies. Small comfort. If you ask me, I would like to see people with otherwise no real medical issues, such as me, be rewarded with low premiums. I'm not one to run to the doctor for every little sniffle and I do try to maintain something resembling a healthy lifestyle so why shouldn't I get be rewarded with low premiums. I also believe in universal coverage. I don't think health care is for the privileged. Everyone deserves the right to quality healthcare. That's was the best about Obamacare. Now it looks like it all goes away. I could always move to the UK and marry the Brit BF for the health insurance. I wouldn't be the first person to marry someone for health insurance and we have talked about getting married (mostly him) in passing. Anyway, tomorrow starts a new week and hopefully a better one.
