Hello Everyone:
I'm watching the 10 meters men's synchronized diving and all I can say is wow. These guys are diving off a building onto a slab of concrete. Okay, they're diving into a pool but when you're traveling fast, it feels like you're hitting concrete. I've been catching the events in a hit and miss fashion but this is the first time I'm sitting down to watch them. Fortunately, the aquatic events are indoors so no worries about floating objects or disgusting things in the water. I like watching the Olympics because they're the ultimate athletic event. Competition at the very highest levels. Speaking of Olympics, I posted an article on the benefits of mega-events, like Olympics. It looks at the pros and cons of hosting an Olympic Games, political conventions, music festivals, and so on. With Olympics, when done right, they make money and everyone is happy. Think Los Angeles in 1984 and Barcelona in 1992. When done had, disaster. Rio comes to mind. I know, it's still early to judge the success or failure of the Rio games but if the run up to the games is any indication, then not good. Anyway, back to the fun and games.
