Chill Tuesday

Hello Everyone:

A quiet Tuesday evening for me. I had a good day in the blogosphere, posting an article on cultural heritage and conflict. It's terrible what armies and barbarians do to out cultural heritage sites. It's one for a place to deteriorate from the environment, it's quite another for it be used as target practice or an ammunition storehouse. Places like temples, libraries, palaces, monasteries, and so on are documents of who and what a people are. Yes, they can be rebuilt if they're destroyed but it's not the same. Something gets lost. Computer modeling and 3-D printers can recreate a place but the authenticity of it gets lost. Specifically, sensual authenticity: sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste (?). You can't recreate that on a computer.  When a place is gone, it's gone.

In other news, I had to institute a Trump-free zone at home. Mom asking me about his constant barrage of verbal gaffes was making me ill. In fact today, I told mom that unless she wanted me to vomit my lunch, not to ask about the gaffes de jour. My head can't process everything all at once and I'm trying to curtail the cursing, really.  Only 98 days left until it's all over. November 8 can't come soon enough.
