Day Out

Hello Everyone:

It was Blogger's Day Out at The Broad Museum in Downtown Los Angeles. It's a museum dedicated to the contemporary art collection of Eli and Edythe Broad. It's not a large museum, square footage-wise but the collection is pretty comprehensive. If you're in the area or planning to be there, I definitely recommend a visit. You have to reserve a time in advance and the quicker the better. The Broad is located near the Music Center campus, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Colburn School of Music. I think the point of having another museum close to other cultural venues is to build a performing arts hub in the Bunker Hill area of downtown. That's cool. It's the frenzy to rebuild the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the future Academy of Motion Pictures Museum, and the renovated Petersen Automotive Museum is part of an overall plan to create an arts hub in the Miracle Mile. I get all that. What would really be great is a shuttle service between the two places so that you can catch a classical music performance at the Colburn School, then attend a screening at the AMPAS Museum. Maybe there is hope for real cultural places in Los Angeles that doesn't involve some element of Hollywood. The day itself was quite enjoyable, even the selfish geezer on the bus ride home couldn't mar the mood. I may have another Blogger's day out again.
