Vanity and High Expectations

Hello Everyone:

A typical Thursday for yours truly. House work and laundry in the morning; errands in the afternoon. In this case, the errands included a haircut. Not too bad for a typical Thursday.  The haircut was partly motivated by an upcoming appointment at the Department of Motor Vehicles to renew my driver's license. I have to take a new picture and, for a change, I want a nice picture. It sounds vain but what's wrong with looking nice on a driver's license?  Mom and the Brit BF have a more blasé attitude-"it's just an photo ID card."  I know it's just a driver's license picture but it's my driver's license picture. It's  the same thing with a passport photo. I want a nice picture, not something that looks like an arrest photo.

Anyway, in other news, mom decided to just give up and present me with some money for my birthday. The good about that is I chose whatever I want; the bad, it's pretty typical of mom. Give up, doesn't want to be bothered with picking herself up out of chair and go to the store. It sounds petty but I like it when someone makes an effort on my behalf. I take the time to chose something nice for a person and I expect the same thing. Maybe I'm asking too much. Maybe I have too high expectations. Expectations are a killer. I wish I didn't have such high expectations from people, especially from people that have perpetually let me down but there you have it. Something I need to work on.
