Hello Everyone:
Ugh, what a slightly frustrating afternoon trying to write with extremely spotty internet connection. This time the culprit is the PLB Business Center. They've been having wi-fi issues, off and on for almost two weeks. One minute it works, the next minute it doesn't. It can drive a person to distraction. I finally gave up and went to the nearest coffee place. Much better connection.
Other than the difficult wi-fi connection, life isn't too bad today. Mom is actually behaving herself for a change. Although I have noticed that she's already starting with her pre-Passover madness. Troubling. Perhaps I should begin my annual "duck and cover" routine. One the things she's planning on doing is calling the exterminators, again. This is the sixth time we've had to this and perhaps, in light of Passover, it might not be a bad idea. I mean the kitchen has to be sanitized anyway so might as well get the guys with the industrial strength insecticide in. This reminds me, I have to figure out what I'm going to do for food during Passover. Since I stopped eating meat, I've been using split peas, tofu, beans, and lentils as my sources of protein. Since these are all legumes and legume-related products, they are off limits during that dreaded holiday. The thought of subsisting on cardboard (er matza), eggs, and dairy (I still eat those) for eight awful days does not sit well with me. O.K. I have where to turn to so I can get some expert help. I'm certainly not going to rely on random opinions.
So what else is new? Not a whole lot else. The health insurance thing seems to be dragging its feet and getting a little frustrating. I checked the Covered California website yesterday and still no movement. I think I did everything I was supposed to. I'll check again. The job search is going slowly also. I applied for an opening yesterday. It's a copy editor's position for a design magazine based in Beverly Hills. Sounds promising. We'll see. I have little or no expectations. What I would really like to do is hook up with some people and start an online magazine devoted to architecture, planning, and preservation. I'd like it to be a forum for previously unpublished work. Maybe if I put the word out I could get some suggestions. It's a thought.
I just would like to remind all of you the RTKL/JAMA still needs your help. Please go to http://www.lafoodbank.org and donate to help this architecture firm build a canned food "sculpture." When it's finished, the "sculpture" will be donated to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.
Thanks
