I have to share with you the absolutely lovely lunch I had with some friends I haven't seen in ages. These are the same ones I've been talking about over the last few posts. It was so great to see them. Ever, since we reconnected on Facebook, we've been catching up on each others' lives and filling in the details of what we're currently doing. They brought their two daughters with them and they are two very sweet girls. We went to the Cheesecake Factory and had a very pleasent lunch. It was the first time I actually had an enjoyable long lunch. My usual lunch is typically a rushed affair. The company was key. Usually, it's just family for company and all they talk about is the same old same old. Once in a while, the conversation takes an interesting turn. Otherwise, I'm bored and anxious to move on with my day. My friends haven't changed much. We all got older and wiser. Personality wise, we're the same, more or less. What I really noticed was the difference in our world views. Their's seemed to be shape by suburban life and my mine is more urban. We all look at the world filtered through different lenses. Their world is filtered through a smaller prism, defined by nearly nineteen years of marriage and two children, church, jobs, and family. My life is filters through writing, being single, no religious affliation, and slightly distant familial connections. Some one looking at this would think that my friends have a happier life and they maybe right but I have no regrets about some choices I've made. Yes, I would like to change the circumstances of my life but I need to make those changes in a way that makes me feel comfortable. I love to write about urban issues and hope to make a living at it. I would like a real bf and hopefully make it a lasting, stable, secure relationship. As for the rest, in due course. For the moment, lunch was the best afternoon I've had in a long time. The food was good and plentiful. We even took pictures.
