Writer's Confidence

Hello Everyone:

Just a quick post today.  I've been having a pretty good so far.  No major crisis to report and mom is, well you know, mom.  I have started taking my own writing into the public realm.  I've been pitching to media outlets a story idea I that have in connection to the movie Monuments Men.  I'm not sure if I talked about here.  My pitch is an article about Allied involvement in the creation and passage of the 1950 Japanese Preservation Law.  It's a chapter from my thesis and I think people would be interested in reading about non-Western preservation.  So far I've pitched to three places.  I'm expecting any sort of immediate response or even an affirmative answer.  I just want to give it a go and see what happens. I think this is stemming from my new found confidence in my writing.  After a year of just writing for myself, I've begun to enjoy the process again.  I'm writing about the things I care about without the pressure of deadlines.  Now, I'd love to test myself with that pressure and see if I can perform.  I feel that I can handle the task of writing under a deadline and getting paid for it.  The prospect is exciting. It's only one article and even if my pitch is accepted and I end up getting it published, I don't expect it'll go anywhere.  Then again, you never know who's looking.  I really feeling good about it and I have appropriate outlets for my work.  This is crucial for me, an appropriate place to showcase my work.  I'm looking for some place that features work on cultural issues and with a wide audience.  In the meantime, I need to follow up with this one work prospect from linkedin.  Hopefully that'll pan out.  Meanwhile, I'll just keep my irons in the fire.
