Works For Me
Hello Everyone:
Finally a break in my work schedule. I have two consecutive days off after nearly working six days last week. It helps that a new person started in my department and, soon, we'll be joined by another person. The good about that is I can go back to something of a regularly scheduled family get together. The downside is a few less hours but I'm hoping to offset it with some extra income. Anyway, I used today to recover from working all weekend. I allowed myself to sleep in and take some time in the morning to get myself together. I have a nice dinner planned for this evening I still have one other thing to do but that shouldn't take me a lot of time. I finally met the new person yesterday and I like him. He seems eager to work and learn, which is a good thing. I took him on a bit of a tour of the store, introducing him to the people he needs to know. He (and I) was impressed by how much I knew and how thorough I was. Not too bad for two months. Really I owe whatever I know so far about the job to my immediate supervisor and a more experienced co-worker. They've been extremely good at teaching me all the things I need to know and walking me through the different procedures so I gain more confidence in my skills. Okay, yes, I'm hating being there less but I still want to leave as fast as possible for a job that can lead to a real career and doesn't require weekends. For now, I have to make the best of the job I have. Honestly, there are moments where I actually like it because it enables me to do certain things. Other times I just want to walk away. I guess that's a normal part of being in the working world. I will say this, it's better than the last job I had. It was the local religious school that had a no discipline policy to supposedly help the students transition back to full time, in-person learning. What a pile of rubbish that turned out to be. About mid-year, the school advertised that they were in desparate need of faculty. I guess not discipling students drove off enough good people. Whatever, that's ancient history. The present tense is a job I may not be crazy about but it's working for me.
