School Politics

Hello Everyone: I had a brief debate with myself today over the merits of doing some mini-grocery run today. I needed to go to the local supermarket for a few items. I thought for about a minute that I could put it off until tomorrow and get everything done in one trip. I remembered that I had it planned for today and went to get the items I needed. This is how boring my life has gotten, I'm having internal debates overbuying groceries. Not only do I need something more constructive to do but this whole lockdown thing has just gotten so old. It's actually a semi-lockdown because places are open but there's no indoor dining or gathering with people who don't live with you. Otherwise, I'd probably have meal invitations from quite a few people. I'm hoping that in six months or so, life can slowly return to something that looks it did pre-pandemic. Who knows, maybe the Brit BF will finally be able to come back for good. That would be lovely so would having a job. I'm not lacking in opportunities, I just want apply to places that I feel comfortable. Right now my focus is applying to schools as a teacher's assistant. I have the experience so at least I can get in the door. Most of the openings have been in local religious schools, which is nice because the hours and pay are good. The problem is that some of them aren't as well managed as others. This is a problem because, like anyone, I want to be paid in full, on time and I would like benefits. The better run religious schools do offer that, if you can deal with the politics. I had enough of that working at this one school before going to grad school. Oh my goodness you had to wonder who was running the place, the parents or the administration. The administration was just as bad because they played favorites. He or she that brown nosed the best got rewarded. I suppose every work situation is like that in varying degrees. What made it even more unpleasent was the emphasis on appearance. It was like you had to have a certain look to be deemed acceptable. By that I mean model-like. It's a school not a fashion runway. Yes, I do put some time into my daily appearance but it's not everything for me. The whole work environment was not that great. I only stayed because I signed on for the year. Anyway, I have a couple of other places I want to check out.
