Karma Has No Deadline

Hello Everyone:

I got a recent reminder that Karma has no deadline. Years ago, when my sister and her family lived on the East Coast. Whenever they would visit, they would stay with my mum. In the beginning it didn’t bother me because I lived somewhere else. It started to annoy me when I moved back home after the break up of a relationship and my dad passed away. What really bothered was the lack of privacy and the way they wouldn’t offer to help out around the house. This trend continued after they moved to the West Coast and would camp out in the living room after a meal all afternoon, into the early evening. No matter how much I said it bothered me, mum shut me down saying she wished they would come over more often and stay longer. Eventually it tapered down and stopped. I had feeling that one day, Karma would kick in. That day has come. My niece, her boy-husband, and two small children are getting on my sister and nephews’ last nerve. They’ve been staying in her guesthouse since the end of March and have no real immediate plans to move. In the meantime, darling sister is complaining about the lack privacy, the mess, the noise, and how they’re being eaten out of house and home. What goes around comes around. I just sit back and enjoy it. Of course I conceal the glee I feel over the fact that they’re getting a taste of what’s it’s like to have people staying over for an extended period of time. Mum harbors this fantasy of all of us living under the same roof. Not going to happen any time in the near, middle, or distant future. Besides if I live with another person, it’ll be the Brit BF and my decision. Anyway, call it a case of schadenfreude. I am deriving some pleasure out of watching my darling “perfect” sister being driven mad by her diva daughter and her family. Karma is a good thing.
