Worried About A Co-Worker

Hello Everyone: I had a lovely weekend. Once again, I got to spend some time with the family. Thank you schedule maker. I even got a weekend day off. I am really liking the schedule maker. This coming week I have some extra hours because one of my co-workers is visiting family in Mexico. No worries because I have two very capable new co-workers. I'm very grateful for their presence. One work thing that does bother me is the way our department head is being treated and how she's responding to the situation. A while back she hurt her hand and has to wear a soft brace. She's on restriction and can't really do the bulk of the work. In order to accommodate her, the manager re-assigned her to greeter duty. It's such a rubbish type job, so unworthy of her. All she does is greet people, directs them to where they need to go, and watch dogs pee on the floor. She has enough experience and knowledge to run the store but, because of her hand, she's been reduced to a nonsense job. Based on what she told me about her recent history with the store, this is yet another example of the crappy way she's being treated. The thing is she just seems to have given up. I ask her a question and she responds I can't make decisions anymore. What kind of answer is that? Her hand is in brace, not her brain. I can tell the situation is eating away at her sense of self and security. The rest of us are managing as best as we can but we need her calm reassurence and guidance. I know if it wasn't for her constant reassurence and patience, I'd be a white hot mess. Whatever I know about the job, I learned from her. The whole thing is just so wrong. I really hope she has a speedy recovery. It's her department and she belongs there.
