Some Self Care
Hello Everyone:
It was a toasty day and my allergies were acting up but not so bad that I couldn't do anything. I still found myself spacing out on the sofa. One self care thing I did today was shower, get dressed, and eat lunch before I went grocery shopping. It sounds like nothing but it meant I wasn't tired, hot, hungry, of whining about a shower when I got home. The other reward was I got everything I needed and the store was quiet. The other self care thing I did was apply to work as a part time in-store grocery shopper at a local chain. It's a nice job, in a nice place, and I can earn nice hourly pay for doing nothing more than filling online order and answering customer inquiries. Very easy. Honestly, I feel a little optimistic about my prospects. Not only will I earn an income but also it'll give me some time to sort out what's next. What's next is something that could be really good. A little while ago, I got in touch with a Facebook friend who co-hosts a preservation-related podcast. The show doesn't have a lot of listeners but it is a good show. I offered my services as a blogger and social media person as way to help them get more subscribers. It would be on a volunteer basis, for now, but if and when there's more of a budget, I could get brought on as a paid person. I also envision an online newsletter connected to the podcast that could feature more in-depth stories about the episodes and other preservation-related subjects as well as upcoming events. That would be a good way to get people interested. One of the things I mentioned to my Facebook friend was getting together with the show's producer, a journalism professor. The professor could turn out to be just the editor I need to make me better. I think this could work out nicely for me. Right now what would work out is dinner.
