Quiet And Rainy Day

Hello Everyone: A very quiet and wet start to the week. It was sunny enough this morning for me to go out to the park to work out before the rain came. Fortunately I was home by the time the downpour started. I keep telling myself that it is winter and the rain does alleviate drought conditions. It just makes having to go outside unbearable. One place I don't miss on rainy days is an elementary school and the students having recess in class. Recess is the time for the students to go outside and get some fresh air. It's also time for the teachers to run to the toilet and reload on coffee. At one elementary school, rainy day recess wasn't even an issue because the students usually had recess in the gym. The school building is located on the corner of a busy intersection with not a lot of place to spread out so the building had to go up. At another school, the only place for the student to have recess was the schoolyard. For whatever reason, the puddles were the big attraction despite efforts to get them to stop jumping in them. I guess it's a kid thing. Changing the subject, I took an online essay writing proficiency exam for a tutoring job I applied to. I thought it was going to be writing an actual essay, not on the finer points of grammar, puncuation, and style guide. I didn't do as well as I hoped to do so I asked the company to send me a copy of my answers so I can study off them. The good part was it was open note and I should have taken full advantage of it. I always said I was a better content editor than copy editor. That's just where my skill set is. I expect to start hearing from some of the places I applied to over the past week sometime next week. Right now everyone is out of the office. I think tomorrow I'll focus on enrolling in the community college certificate program. I am tentively scheduled to attend the information session a week from Saturday. The whole thing feels a little uncertain, especially what happens after I complete the program. I don't want to be stuck with a useless piece of paper, more school debt, and no job. Then again, I'm worrying about something in the future that may or may not happen. Somehow I think that the people running the program are dedicated to making sure that their graduates get placed in community college. Mostly my concern is the internship component. A quick check of the available programs tells me that interns with Ph.Ds in STEM courses are a priority. I have neither but I'm determined not to let that stop me from applying for a slot. Anyway, it's dinner time.
