Family Thing

Hello Everyone:

A very happy afternoon. Baby niece and her parents are back in town for a short visit. They dropped by today for a visit. The baby niece is so cute and adorable. They're here for The Minion's bar mitzvah along with a bunch of other people I could care less about.  It was kind of cute watching baby niece eat or, at least put food in her mouth, hair, clothes, face, and on the floor.  Still working on those hand-to-mouth skills. Speaking of the bar mitzvah, I'm still not sure if I want to go tomorrow to the reception. The hold up is I really don!t feel like staying out late. Really,  I don't consider it an occasion worth staying out late. I may drop by to say hello and leave. I certainly don't want to come early for pictures. My attitude is if I'm ready, I'll come. Truth is I just don't want to be around the BIL's family. They're actually quite full of themselves and not worth any effort at civility. I've always considered them boring unsophisticated middle class types.  The BIL's mother is the worst.  She fancies herself the Queen of the Universe and likes to remind people of that. She's a former school teacher who has the ceremonial job of synagogue president in a retirement community in Florida. I'm not sure what the BIL's father did before they retired. Anyway, I have nothing to say to them or the BIL's siblings. Actually sibling, one married a non-Jewish woman and doesn't attend these functions without his wife. I'd rather stay home and do other things. Yes, I know it's about The Minion but every time there's a Sis and BIL family thing it just touches a nerve.  I'm still angry over the way they ruined my graduation day and never properly apologized for it. By properly apologize I mean it should been acknowledged right away and amends made in a timely manner.  This gives me less and less incentive to participate in their occasions. I did commit to showing for services but that's it. Beyond that, we'll see.
