A Kind Word

Hello Everyone:

For the most part, it's been a fairly quiet few days I fairly because there was a moment on Wednesday that proved to be very upsetting. My New York aunt swore up and down that she sent me a card for my birthday. Enclosed with the was probably a check. The card never materialized and NY aunt put a stop payment on the check. Mom was more excited about it than I was and told to look for it in thebma. Like a fool, I allowed mom to get me excited and even mentally earmarked the money for specific use. By Wednesday, the check and card hadn't arrived; which upset me greatly to say the very least. I felt like, once again, mom was building up my hopes, then cruelly dashing them. This seems to be a game she likes to play, build up hopes, then knock them down. It's not about the check, it's more about someone taking the time to acknowledge my birthday. I don't care about the amount, I care more about the action. Mostly, I'm upset that I fell for that game again. As usual, mom made herself out to be the good person and made me out to be the spoiled selfish brat. Disappointment is my default setting. The rest of the week has gone pretty much status quo. Chores and irritating people. Most people irritate me. I prefer the company of a few people than a heard. The Brit BF had a working weekend so I had plenty of time to catch a double feature, courtesy of the Public Library DVD collection and refresh the color of my hair. Must looked reasonably well groomed for my try-out on Tuesday. I hope it works out. Mom already suggested I bribe the students with stickers but I prefer to have people like me of their own volition. Besides, praise or a kind word goes a long way. At least, it works for me.
