I Do Know

Hello Everyone:

I'm feeling much better today. I even attempted a morning run-which was more like half run/half walk but it was an improvement. I think if I rest up over the weekend, I should be all good. I still want to sleep all day and my throat is still sore.  I think mom is glad I have a sore throat because she doesn't have to listen to my singing, which isn't all that bad. Apparently she can't stand my choice of music. Well I can't help that. Although, she did quote a little line from "Hungry Like The Wolf."  I found that amusing. Anyway, if I have enough energy, I might dance along. Right now I'm watching some Christmas special.  It's okay, more show than music. I already got my annual dose of the song "Do They Know It's Christmas."  You know, it's kind of odd, if it weren't for the video, DTKIC would just be another annoying holiday song. The song and video are over thirty-years-old but they endure because it took the initial marketing concept of the video and used it for good. The song started out as a charity recording, written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. They put together this super group of mostly British rock and pop stars to record it. The video was seen all over the world, raising awareness for African famine relief. More important, it marked a transition from the celebration half of the eighties to the shoe gazer half of the decade. It spawned affiliated groups and a massive, bi-continent concert. I can only take listening to it about once a year because despite it's role in pop culture, it does get annoying after a few times. The only reason I bring it up is the video showed up on my social media pages this morning. You can find it on YouTube. If you really want to show your age, correctly identify all the singer and bands. I'll give you help, U2, Sting, and Duran Duran are in it. Alright, that's my trip down the memory lane of childhood.
