Hello Everyone:
The weekend is almost over and I'm actually looking forward to the week. It was a boring weekend. As always, my favorite part of the weekend was skyping with the Brit BF. I like the fact that I can see and speak to him, if only for a short period of time. Right now, I'm watching this movie 'While We're Young,' that looks like a good one. It's about this Gen X couple that starts hanging out with this millennial couple, trying to recapture their youth. The millennial couple look like they're having way more fun and it's infectious. The director and writer are really good about showing all the degradations of getting older. Arthritis, failing eyesight, and all the other humiliations of being a at certain age and dealing with a younger generation. Me, I've always had the crappy eyesight and really have no interest in recapturing my high school and early college days. This movie is funny in a hippie trippie sort of thing way. It's kind of like watching a whacked out (even more whacked out then usual) Doors song. Also, it makes some good points on long term relationships. They can go stale unless you find a way to the energy alive. I've done the long term relationship thing and it's hard to keep the energy alive. I think about the long term relationship thing with the Brit BF a lot and wonder if I can do it again. He's really different from the last guy I was seriously involved with. The Brit BF is way saner then the last guy I was seriously involved with. 'While We're Young' is actually pretty cool. One thing it makes pretty clear is the divide between the Gen X and millennial. It seems like night and day. Kind of like early to middle Baby Boomers and late stage Baby Boomer and Gen X. Huge life gap. I get lost with the cultural references sometimes but I try to figure it out in my own way. This is a movie I can relate to.
