Soap Box Time

Hello Everyone:

Wow, it's been an exciting couple of days for the United States. Affordable healthcare and the right to marry for same sex couples have been affirmed. When did this country do something right?  Talk about head snapping moments. I just really happy for some guy friends of mine who can legally marry the person they love. After all, isn't that what it's all about?  The odd thing is that all the religious people are moaning that they feel persecuted. I don't see how that's possible because for years, the religious right has been trying to force down an agenda that's based on their perception of G-d. While the Republican Party strongly believes that if you can't afford a doctor, don't get sick and if you do get sick or injured, it's your own fault. Well, that's a load of bollocks isn't it. With regards to the religious right, no one is asking you to attend or perform a same sex wedding. Also, quite trying to tell us your version of America as Christian nation is the only version. It never was and never will be. We've been this dysfunctional mix of people from the very beginning and will continue to be that way. We like it. Now let's fix immigration and do something about gun control. While we're at it, let's all finally address racism, bigotry, and sexism is an honey manner finally. Maybe in another 400 years, give or take a decade, we'll be able to say we're an enlightened country.
