The In-laws Are Coming

Hello Everyone:

At last it's Friday and I'm feeling tired from my day's chores.  It's also hot, which is making me feel even more tired.  I had my chocolate fix, which made cleaning the kitchen more tolerable.  So far mom hasn't gone completely psycho with the pre-Passover preparations, yet.  Operative word being yet.  I've already been informed that my sister's in-laws, their "Imperial Majesties of Boynton Beach, Florida" will be making their annual state visit.  Woo freakin' hoo.  Sis's MIL (mother-in-law) is a real piece of work.  They sweep in a few days before, after the bulk of the work has been done and take charge of things.  They sit at the table lording themselves over the precedings, reminding one and all of their presumed greatness.  Really, they're nothing more than a couple of self-important bourgeois types who affect greatness.  I deal with them by avoiding any interaction.  Preserves my Zen-like state.  Hey, don't roll your eyes.  I can be very calm, under the right circumstances.

Now for the latest phantom stomach menace report.  Mom has to go back to the doctor today for some re-tests.  Hopefully it turns out to something treatable with medication.  I asked if she was around anyone with a gastro-intestinal illness; she said no.  Dodgy luncheon meat was ruled out and I'm hoping it's nothing really serious.  Strange.  Whatever this phantom stomach menace turns out to be, I just know that mom is going to get nutty about it.  This is a woman who internalizes side-effects from baby aspirin.
