Sunday Evening Thoughts

Hello Everyone:

It is a Sunday evening and guess what?  Mom is out for the evening.  It's true.  She didn't tell me where she was going, not that I asked.  I teased her about a date with this eighty-something that recently hit on her.  Kind of fun.  Mom was cool about it.  Spent time Skyping with Brit BF today.  Always my favorite thing to on the weekend.  Although it would be better if we spent the weekend together.  Patience, everything in it's proper time.  I was telling him that our cultural difference adds a really cool dimension to our relationship.  I think it makes it more interesting, less static.  I think that sometimes when a couple comes from similar backgrounds, there's risk that the familiarity breeds too much comfort.  The difference in our background is a challenge but one worth taking on.  For now, I have some homework to do on the Yoruba culture.  Yoruba is the tribe his family is from and something that is so integral to his identity.  I also have the duty to educate him on Judaism.  The message I want to impart is that Judaism is not just a religion but a culture that taught the world about love, justice, compassion, mercy, and tolerance.  I hope he takes the time to do some reading on Judaism.  I'll try to answer his questions.  I look forward to the challenge.
