A bit of a fun day

Hi All:

I decided to have a bit of a fun day today mainly to celebrate the fact that my thesis was approved by the graduate school deities and uploaded into the university library.  In other words, I'm officially finished with school.  Yeah.  So now what?  Keep looking for work and hopefully something will click.  I went to get a long overdue cut and color then picked up a few necessary personal care items.  This was instead of being strapped to the computer researching Preservation of Community Assets.  Not that I don't find it interesting, I do, but I need a break every so often, I mean a real break, not just a weekend.  It's good every so often to just not do any work and have some fun.  It's good for the soul and the mind.  It puts things in better perspective.  Tomorrow, it's back to the grind but for now a chance to relax.

On the way to the hair salon I passed by a tattoo parlor and for a second considered going in.  As I've said before, I really have to work up the nerve to get a tattoo.  The piercing is a little less anxiety producing but a tattoo is like crossing a threshold.  Once it's done, it's done.  I only want one and that's it.  Really.  Either a dragon, my Chinese astrological sign or cat woman.  I don't think you can convince me to do both unless I was really drunk or insane.  Since, at the moment, I'm neither one and done it is.  Enough about that.

This morning on my Facebook page and Twitter feed I posted a Youtube video of Duran Duran performing the song "Ordinary World."  If you've never heard, check it out because it's a beautiful song.  The reason I did this is that it captured my mood for the day.  Now that I'm finished with school, it's time to transition fully into the real world and that song really captures what taking that first scary step is like.  Actually, it was written for a completely different reason but like any creative act, it has taken on different meanings for different people.  For me, it speaks about the first step.  Nice going DD.

Anyway, I hope some of you had or are having a nice day and did something fun.
