Down Shift
Hello Everyone:
I finally managed to calm down after a very hectic week. The run up to Passover, layered on shelter-in-place, made everything far more insane than usual. Thursday and today was pure heaven. I had a few hours to myself. I read and did whatever I wanted to do. It was quiet and mum didn’t bellow my name every other second. Friday was also pretty chill. I love days like that. The chatty carer had a very nice chat over tea. We came to the realization that the tension in the house was the result of everyone being stuck at home all the time. Unfortunately this situation will continue until May 15, at least. One good thing about self isolation is that I discovered my need for human interaction is making me talk to random strangers. A family out for a stroll or a police officer, doesn’t matter, just another person outside of the house. Great, another month of hiding out in my room, silently cursing the planet. Changing the subject, life is good again. Life is good in other ways. Good news of the day: The BIL was taken off the ventilator, after four weeks in the ICU with COVID-19. So happy about that, really. He still has spend a few more days in the hospital then go to a rehab clinic. I already told sis we should have a big party. Another life is good moment was the other carer telling mum she’s Muslim. Mum is looked after by two very nice ladies: the chatty carer and a lady from Senegal. I actually like them both. Anyway, I overheard mum the Senegalese carer chatting this afternoon during which mum asked her about her background. Over the course of the conversation the carer said she was Muslim. I was in my bathroom doing my nail sort of listening to the conversation and nearly lost it. You have to love karma because every now and then, she gives back what you put out. Mum is one of those very conservative people and having African-American and African women, one Christian and the other Muslim is karma’s way putting people she needs to depend on in her life. Karma’s like you have a problem with Black people, okay here they are, now deal. Love it. Anyway, I’m looking to a less crazy week and some sleep.
