Something New And Exciting

Hello Everyone:

I had a very WTF, in a good way, couple of days.  Allow me to explain: on my LinkedIn profile I have a setting that lets me get career advice suggestion from other professionals. I’ve had a few nibbles but nothing worth getting excited about until last week. I got a career advice suggestion from someone who came totally beyond the left field parking lot. The advice giver is an employee of law enforcement agency. Okaaay. My first thought was “what useful advice could a law enforcement employee give me?”  I thought about it and decided to connect anyway. Instead of a form message, I sent something more personal, mentioning my background and asked how relevant was this to him?  Apparently it was relevant. He told me that his employer hires people with all backgrounds. Okay. I asked him if there was anyone I could chat with and he suggested that set up a profile online at his employers’ website. Cool. Will do. That got me thinking what initially excited me about the history of art. It was a high profile case involving the recovery of a painting that got me excited. Making it a career never came to fruition but now I’m thinking maybe it’s time to rekindle that excitement. I love writing, writing about the cities and politics but somehow it seems more like a hobby. It still feels like a keep busy project. This new thing is something I can connect with?  I plan to follow through with his suggestion and explore further options. It all sounds exciting.
