Hello Everyone:
This afternoon was a bit of a roses and thorns type of afternoon. The roses was an application I submitted to the London Lord Mayor's office for a job with the lofty title of Mayoral Research Officer. The job involves research and policy writing, something I can definitely handle. I'm fairly certain that the HR person will take one look at my application and do a double take. "An American wants to work in London? Really?" Yes, I do want to work in London, if that's where the work is. It's a full time permanent position that pays well and comes with benefits. I don't if they'll consider me for an interview but I'm excited about the prospect. The thorn was the trusty laptop was being extremely difficult. The track pad wasn't behaving the way it should. It wasn't letting do anything useful, beyond getting in that application submitted. It was very frustrating but I finally decided to shut down and head over to the Apple Store, where I set up an appointment with the Genius Bar on Wednesday. It also meant I couldn't get started on a post about the retail meltdown. Fortunately, the Apple person and I found a temporary solution until then. I'm hopeing that it's only a software issue because there seemed to be nothing wrong with the track pad so I'm hoping that it's just a matter of updating the software. Hopefully it'll be a case of all ends well. Tomorrow I'll be back in the blogosphere.
