Hello Everyone:
What is it about Mondays that makes the tech gremlins come out? I swear it seems that every Monday the trusty laptop and/or the WiFi in the Business Center conspire to annoy me to no end. Why can't they just settle down, like they do the rest of the week, and function properly? I don't care what happened over the weekend, when I need the laptop and WiFi to work, I need it yesterday. Besides, the laptop and WiFi should know by now that I always win the contest of wills so there's no use in being rebellious. There, I've had my moment in the Speaker's Corner. Over dinner, I was complaining to mum that I wish I had a work fairy godmother. That one person who will say,"come, do this, you'll be fantastic." Instead, I plenty of people giving me advice or shaking their heads despairingly, "I don't understand what's wrong with you. Why haven't you found work? You're a smart person." How about this, instead of the despairing look and comments, how about do something to help me out. Spare me the advice on how to fix everything from my resume to my appearance and place me in a job. Too much effort. Some people are just all talk. It's easier to dispense advice and say "I don't know anyone or can't help you" than to actually say "let me talk to someone I know.". It may be a legitimate reason but I hear a trace of insincerity in the voice of the speaker. Then you wonder why I don't like people so much.
